Is it really possible for Air Force One to be hijacked? If you can
get past that question, then you're going to love Air
Force One. For the record, the movie doesn't really answer how Air
Force One got hijacked, it justs tells you it was done. Harrison Ford plays
President Jim Mitchell. On his way back from Russia, his plane gets hijacked
by a gang of nationalists led by Gary Oldman. They want their leader to
be released from jail, and if he isn't released, one hostage every half-hour
will be killed. I know it's hard to imagine how a two hour movie could
take place exclusively on an airplane, but it works. Gary Oldman plays
one hell of a bad guy. I liked his bad guy better than most because he
is truly bad. If he says he's going to kill someone, he does it. None of
this explaining his reasoning over and over again, none of this giving
in to emotions and not killing someone, when he wants to, he puts a bullet
in the back of someone's head. Harrison Ford as the President? Well, I
had a hard time getting past that at first. Indiana Jones, Han Solo, as
the President? Once I got past that, the movie was quite fun. It was non-stop
action from beginning to end, literally. The scenes that took place outside
the airplane, with the fighter planes, were very well done. A strong supporting
cast, led by Glenn Close and Dean Stockwell round out the film. The movie
also made you think, what is more important to you, your country or your
family? I had my doubts about Air Force One,
but it truly was a good movie.
