This was a strange sort of Disney film. How many family movies involve the Russian Mafia? Jungle 2 Jungle stars Tim Allen as a Wallstreet broker who finds out he has a son somewhere in the Amazon jungle. He brings his son back from a tribal village (where he has been living with his mother), and brings him to New York City (get it? Amazon jungle to the jungle of New York? ha ha!). You can see where this is going. The kid, named Mimi, has troubles in the big city, Tim Allen has troubles keeping Mimi out of trouble, Allen's new fiance (Lolita Davidovich) is an annoying woman who doesn't have the time for anyone but herself. Martin Short is also in the movie, he plays a co-worker of Allen's. Short also has a daughter who falls for Mimi. And of course the Russian Mafia comes into play. I realize I am no longer a child, and this movie certainly wasn't geared towards me, but I just didn't think it was that funny. Most of these family films are fun to watch, even if they aren't funny, but this one seemed like Disney didn't have a family film in the marketplace, so they decided to make this one and put it out there. The other Tim Allen film, The Santa Clause was a lot better because it was actually funny, and at the same time, fun. Go rent that one instead of Jungle 2 Jungle and you'll have a much better time.
